We get a lot of questions from people who have never heard of Rubber Decking. The fact is that even though rubber surfacing may appear to be a new product, it actually dates back almost 70 years when it was first created for running track applications in Europe. Rubber Decking for residential applications is fairly new and has been used throughout the US & Canada for about 30 years.
A Rubber Decking is made up of EPDM (synthetic rubber) mixed with a special polyurethane binder that is applied (poured) directly over existing cracked and uneven concrete. You have probably seen Rubber Decking in your local playgrounds and splash-pads. The reason why Rubber Decking is so popular is its clean, maintenance free appearance and its expansion capability.
Rubber Decking has been making its way into residential applications and can now be found around a backyard pool, on a patio or a set of stairs, and even over top of an old cracked asphalt driveway.  Rubber Decking is naturally non-slip when wet and snow covered making it ideal for pool decks, walkways, and stairs where safety is paramount. A Rubber Decking has the unique ability to expand and contract to accommodate for ground movement and freeze/thaw cycles. This expansion ability drastically reduces cracking that you would commonly see in stone based products as a result of our ever-changing climate.

One of the best features about a Rubber Decking is its ability to be applied directly over your worn, cracked, and uneven surface.
